Week 2 events

Many thanks to everybody who helped to make the first debate a success despite the slight chaos over room bookings and times! It’s great to see so many people attending and we hope you keep coming - so please don’t be too offended if we lost you in Drydock and you didn’t make it to ‘If’ with us afterwards…

This week we’re looking forward to seeing you at:

Guest speaker debate
THW ban smoking in enclosed public spaces
In: Roger Stevens Lecture Theatre 17
From: 6pm on Tuesday October 4th

First training session
THW return cannabis to class B
In: Roger Stevens Lecture Theatres (meet in 17)
From: 7pm on Thursday October 6th

Sorry we haven’t got a room in the Union yet - we’re doing our best. Also note that having just told you all that we always start at 8pm, we’re actually not doing that at all this week.

One last thing: bring a pen and paper on Thursday if you want to speak, but remember that even when we’re doing training debates, you don’t have to speak if you don’t want to.

First meeting - important!

PLEASE READ!

Due to some confusion over the block bookings procedure in the ARC, debating is NOT in the conference hall this week. Block bookings will be processed by October 3rd, so we’ll hopefully be back to our normal slot from next week. For now, please go to:

The place: Roger Stevens Lecture Theatre 17
The day: Thursday 29th September
The time: 8pm onwards

Very sorry for the sudden change of location. Please try not to be too late, as there’s a lot to get through and we may end up being a little pushed for time. Also feel free to bring along £3 if you haven’t paid your membership fees - there’s no urgent rush for them quite yet, but the sooner the better.

Welcome to Leeds

So, Introweek is finally upon us, and all you lovely people will be arriving in Leeds for the start of a new term. Welcome to new arrivals, welcome back to everybody else… and here’s the update on where to find us in the coming seven days.

If you feel like giving yourself a break from wandering around in confusion with your registration forms, or taking time out from excessive first week merry-making, then head over to the societies fair to sign up with LUDS - remember, you need to join again even if you were a member last year.

The place: Riley Smith Hall, in the Union
The days: Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd September
The times: 10am to 4pm on both days

The debating stall will be just on your right as you come in the main entrance, and bedecked with leaflets full of useful information, a bit of LUDS propaganda, and spangly new membership cards - yours for the bargain price of just £3.

We look forward to meeting you.
