Week 2 events

After the last debate, new members may be worrying that LUDS is actually vaguely serious. But relax! It goes downhill quickly, and if we do say so ourselves this next motion is a cracker. If you were at Cambridge this week you’d be debating whether or not military action is counterproductive in the fight against terrorism; instead we invite you to:

Motion: THW attend Hogwarts
Date: Thursday 2nd February
Place: ARC Meeting room 2, from 8pm

BUT that’s not all - there’s also a Harry Potter themed house party afterwards with a supply of free drink (or ‘potions’ if you’re really getting into the theme too much for your own good). Coming along in fancy dress is also encouraged, with a prize for whoever puts in the most effort.

And finally, a week couldn’t go by without news about the fantastic alumni debate on Feb 23rd. We’ve booked the rooms and so we’re letting you know well in advance that the start time will be different to usual: arrive at the council chamber 6.15-6.30 for the reception (free food & drink are planned) and the debate will be starting around 7.30.

Welcome back

Semester two is getting under way and debating is back for the second half of the year. Our schedule of debates is online for your inspection, so please take a look at the events page and see what’s on offer. In particular note the fantastic…
