Happy Easter

Thanks for your attendance throughout the past semester - and for voting to cull the Easter Bunny… probably not what the founders of our society had in mind, but a historic achievement nonetheless. We’re off for the Easter holidays now (albeit without the bunny) and our next meeting is on Thursday 27th April. There are only a couple of meetings left after the holidays because the term is so short, but we’ll be around for a couple of hopefully amusing comedy debates. Happy holidays; we look forward to seeing you in April.

Week 9 events

It’s the end of term at last - so there’s just time to say thanks to all those who have attended our debates throughout the year; it’s been much appreciated. We might be back after the holidays for a couple of brief light-hearted debates, but basically our year more or less finishes here. And so we proudly announce our final (seasonal) debate:

Motion: THW cull the Easter Bunny
Date: Thursday 23rd March
Place: ARC meeting room 2, from 8pm

So come along and start your holidays with a rabbit-murdering bang - we look forward to seeing you.

Week 8 events

Congratulations to all members of the newly elected committee, to Count von Count the Counting Count for his triumph in the balloon debate, and to everybody on the IV teams at Manchester (results on the forum when we have them).

Although the current team behind debating at Leeds have now entered our lame duck time in office, there’s still room for a couple of controversial debates before we sign off for good, and here’s the first one:

Motion: THW stop trying to save the whale
Date: Thursday 16th March
Place: ARC meeting room 2, from 8pm

Any would-be speakers for this debate please email us at the usual address. There’s a sample case online at debatabase.org (just search the site for ‘whaling’) so your preparation is basically already done if you decide to give it a go. See you all on Thursday!
