Hey all!

Just wanted to say a personal hello to everyone in my first site message as President;) As you can tell by all the site changes and our ‘Events’ section, the new committee is well under way with planning all of next year’s fantastic events already, including our usual ‘unique’ (heehee!) weekly debates, training sessions, socials, national and international IV competition participation, as well as the revival of the Leeds IV in 2007! (All new and improved, of course;))

For any new members looking around at what the Union has to offer in the way of societies, I hope you find the site useful. Debating is really good to get involved in not only because of the skills you gain (and it looks great on your CV!) but because it’s all a good laugh and fun, (I will make sure of it personally - I am the one responsible for last year’s £150 free alcohol party after all!:p) Post on the ‘Freshers’ section of the forum if you have any questions, or you can contact any of us personally - just click on our names in the ‘Committee’ section. I look forward to hearing from and meeting all of you come the new year:)

To the new committee, extremely glad to have you all on board:D Thank you so much for everything you’ve done already - I am certain we will have an even better year 2006 - 2007! (Can’t wait til Freshers week - we MUST make this the best ever as it’s last time round for most of us, sob…) 

To Keir, Alex, Saoirse and Kate, the outgoing committee, a personal thanks to you:) We’ve had great year this year, and it’s been an absolute pleasure meeting, getting to know, and being mates with you all. We all joined at the same time (ah, memories - lol!) and it won’t be the same without you! I’ll miss you:( (Rest assured you will all be harassed about things over the course of next year though - I don’t care if you have left Leeds!) Good luck with everything!!! Please keep in touch - that goes for all previous society members, let us know what you’re getting up to post-Leeds!

As for the rest of the year, I believe some informal meetings are still being held, Thursdays at 8pm in the Arc as usual, by the old committee. Anyone can come along, watch or speak, but please do bear in mind that these are solely meant as a laugh, so advanced apolgies for any offence caused by the humour there - it’s an acquired taste!

New site is open for business.

Comments, problems, things you want changing added etc… post here.

For the committe you can now upload pictures straight into the front page posts, so you  can upload graphs and pictures etc straight into your text.  Posting is easier, kind of like using word, so you don’t have to worry about putting tags before and after words to make them bold etc, just click the icons in the top panel and type like you would with any other program.

The front page will hold the latest 3 posts before putting them back into a archieve.  You can access all of the previous posts etc through the archieve’s in the right hand menu, and you can now edit all of the pages just by clicking “edit” at the bottom of each comment or page whilst logged in, so you don’t have to keep going into the control panel.

Any more ideas or anything let me know, but I am swamped with work, so it might not happen immediately.

I setup all of the side bar links in Word Press, so the committee can now edit all of the judging, debating and events etc through the admin panel. The passwords changed also because anyone can login since the username was “admin” and the password was “password”. I’m going to email the new login and password to Lisi so if you need it email her.

Gonna get something sorted about a new logo too.
